Geography Impact

After the implementation of Maestro Primary Geography, pupils should leave school with a deep understanding of the world around them, equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in their secondary education and to become informed, responsible global citizens.

The expected impact of following the Maestro Primary Geography scheme of work is that children will:

➔ Develop a secure understanding of locational and place knowledge, including the physical and human features of diverse environments across the world.
➔ Use geographical vocabulary confidently to describe and compare places, landscapes, and processes.
➔ Interpret a range of geographical sources such as maps, atlases, globes, aerial photographs, and digital mapping tools.
➔ Understand key physical processes such as weather, climate, rivers, mountains, and natural disasters, and how these affect people and places.
➔ Explore human geography including settlements, land use, economic activity, and the distribution of natural resources.
➔ Ask and answer geographical questions, conduct fieldwork, and use data to draw conclusions about the world around them.
➔ Appreciate the impact of human actions on the environment and develop a sense of responsibility and care for the planet.
➔ Recognise the significance of global interdependence and the importance of sustainability in shaping the future.
