Impact

The impact of the school’s maths curriculum:

• Children have a strong foundation for understanding the world and the skills that are essential to everyday life.

• Children enjoy the subject of maths and are confident to ‘have a go’.

• Children demonstrate good number sense and are fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics.

• Children can discuss maths that is presented to them and reason mathematically.

• Children develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.

• Children can solve problems by applying their mathematics.

• Children are able to independently choose the equipment they need from their maths toolkit boxes to help them solve calculations and problems.

• Children are able to confidently choose strategies they think are best suited to each problem.

• The impact of ‘mastery’ and the emphasis on the correct use of mathematical language is evident during all discussions.

We strive for the attainment at the end of KS2 to be in-line with (or exceeding) that of the national average, as well an increasing proportion of children demonstrating greater depth. Teachers use on-going assessment to monitor the children’s progress against key objectives. The maths subject leader monitors maths across the school to evaluate the impact of the curriculum on children’s learning and progress.
