  • Easter Coffee Morning is back!

    Fri 25 Feb 2022

    Easter Coffee Days

We are busily organising these for Wednesday (am) and Friday (am and pm) in the last week of term. Letters will go out on Monday inviting families to request tickets. There will be 2 tickets per family overall. You will be asked to choose the Easter Coffee Day of your preference. All three events will be identical, with the children doing a short performance, sales of drinks and cakes, etc and a small raffle.

We will also be inviting the children to take part in some Easter themed competitions too.

  • Personal Best Challenge

    Fri 25 Feb 2022

Well done to our Year 3 & 4 children who took part in today's Personal Best Challenge. They were a huge credit to Asmall Primary School and worked incredibly hard. They should each be as proud of themselves as I am.
They took part in activities working on their strength, agility, speed and co-ordination; each of them following advice and practising in order to beat their first score and achieve a 'personal best'.

  • End of half term fun!

    Fri 11 Feb 2022

We had a good end of term today with some lovely weather too!

The Fire Brigade came to talk to Years 2 and 3 about safety in the home, Ormskirk Tennis Club came to give lessons to Years 1 and 6 and our Buddies were able to play together at playtimes again!

Have a wonderful half term holiday! 😀

  • Book Bench

    Fri 11 Feb 2022

Our Book Club members have been reading Around the World in Eighty Days with Mrs Whitfield. They were invited to Edge Hill University today to paint a book bench. This will be displayed in Chorley as part of a reading trail before coming to live at Asmall later in the year. I have had lots of wonderful comments about the children’s attitude and behaviour at Edge Hill today.
Well done to the ten children who took part and thank you to Mrs Whitfield for organising!

  • Laura Davidson Award

    Fri 11 Feb 2022

This week we have awarded our first Laura Davidson certificates in school.  These have gone to a child in each class who has shown some of the qualities which Laura demonstrated  -  kindness, friendship, being an advocate, generosity, humility, determination and resilience.  She made sure that everyone had a voice and that everyone was included.

For those of you who didn't know her, Laura was a governor here as well as a grandparent of Alexa (Y3).  She worked for the Child and Family Wellbeing Service and has supported Asmall in more ways than I could ever list. She was also my friend, and she supported me too.

When Laura died (at the start of the autumn term), parents in Year 3 got together and suggested that we should have a school award in her memory.  One parent designed and painted a beautiful certificate, whilst others organised a trophy.  We decided that we would award these at the end of each half term.  The certificate shows the interests and qualities which Laura had - from sewing and gardening to holidays, photography and nature.  There is a rainbow in the centre - Laura was so instrumental in keeping up the morale of the class during the lockdowns - and a large heart. She was an advocate for everyone!

So today, we have seven children with their certificates.  We will award every half term.
